Gender-Responsive Communications

Build communications that are inclusive, credible, and effective.

Training, advisory services, and practical tools to help organizations communicate in ways that advance gender equality and inclusion while strengthening engagement, trust, and impact.

Why Gender-Responsive Communications Matter

Communications shape perceptions, influence behaviour, and reflect organisational values.

Yet many organisations struggle with questions such as:

  • How do we communicate about gender and inclusion confidently?

  • How do we avoid stereotypes and unintended bias?

  • How can we use language that is both inclusive and accessible?

  • How do we ensure our visual and written communications align with our organizational commitments?

Gender-responsive communications help organisations create content that reflects diversity, promotes inclusion, and strengthens credibility with staff, partners, donors, and communities.

Meet your trainer:

'm Sini Ramo (she/her), a gender equality specialist, communications professional, trainer, facilitator, and consultant with more than 15 years of experience supporting organizations to advance gender equality, inclusion, and effective communication.

My background combines extensive expertise in both gender equality and strategic communications. Throughout my career, I have worked with international organizations, NGOs, governments, and United Nations agencies across development, humanitarian, and peacebuilding contexts, helping organizations strengthen how they communicate about gender equality and inclusion in ways that are practical, accessible, and impactful.

In addition to my work as a gender specialist, I have led communications functions within international organizations, including managing communications for a United Nations country office. My experience includes developing communications strategies, leading campaigns, producing web and social media content, supporting media and public outreach, and advising organizations on inclusive and gender-responsive communications approaches.

Over the years, I have designed and facilitated numerous workshops on gender-responsive communications for diverse audiences and supported organizations in developing guidance, tools, and standards for inclusive communications. This includes contributing to organizational frameworks and guidelines that help teams communicate consistently, confidently, and effectively about gender equality and inclusion.

My training style is highly interactive, practical, and grounded in real-world experience. Rather than focusing solely on theory, I help participants develop concrete skills and tools they can immediately apply to their communications, programmes, leadership roles, and everyday interactions.

I hold a Master's degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of Sussex, with a specialization in gender and feminist approaches.

Having facilitated hundreds of workshops and learning sessions globally, I continue to be inspired by the moments when participants gain new perspectives, challenge assumptions, and discover practical ways to create more inclusive and effective communication.

  • Former communications lead within a UN country office
